Ukraine opens the markets of China, the United States and Venezuela for agro-export

The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection has sent to the national plant protection organizations of China, the United States, and Venezuela all the necessary documents to open the export of agricultural products to these countries. According to Ukrinform, the head of the State Food and Consumer Service Vladislava Magaletska told about it in a comment to Ukrainian Shipping Magazine, reported at the website of the State Food and Consumer Service.

“The State Food and Consumer Service has initiated and sent to the national plant protection organizations of Ukraine’s partner countries in international trade all the necessary documents to open export to China of wheat, sorghum, peas and beans, to the United States – organic corn and wheat, to Venezuela – wheat and peas, and beans to a number of Central and South American countries” - the statement said. Magaletska explained that there are countries in which the legalization of grain import requires certain official procedures. They can last more than one year. According to her words, the State Food and Consumer Service immediately responds to requests from Ukrainian profile associations that unite exporters.

According to Magaletska, Ukraine is a world leader in grain export and a guarantor of food security in the world. Ukrainian grain is exported to more than 130 countries. However, it is still important to receive notifications from partner countries, to reduce the number of which it is necessary to improve the sphere of agriculture, take preventive measures and increase phytosanitary security of the country. Last year, 306 such notifications were received. Each notification is investigated and appropriate action is taken.

“Together with colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and specialists of relevant associations, we hold regular consultations and negotiations with grain importers, including on fumigation requirements. While having consultations the right solutions are found, and exporters get additional opportunities”, - Magaletska stressed.

Ukraine also notifies partner countries in international trade in cases of non-compliance with phytosanitary measures of imported plant products. More than 700 such cases are investigated annually.

As reported before, the State Food and Consumer Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are working together to open new markets for Ukrainian export, providing support to producers and removing technical barriers to trade, as well as providing state guarantees for compliance with partner countries.
