The Minister of Economy of Ukraine and the Minister of Trade of Turkey discussed cooperation in the economic field

The First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Iulia Svyridenko held talks with the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey Mehmet Mush. During the meeting, high officials discussed cooperation between the two countries in the economic field.

One of the main issues of the negotiations was the renewal of marine supplies of products from Ukraine to Turkey. Due to the war that russia is leading against Ukraine, the possibility of Ukrainian export through seaports is temporarily unavailable. Ministers have discussed a number of alternative ways for combined transportation routes. The issue of supplying Turkish equipment for processing agricultural products to Ukraine was also raised.

“Due to the temporary loss of marine logistics, we need to reorient from tonnes to volumes of money. This means - to export mainly processed food products. To perform it, Ukrainian companies need turnkey technological equipment. Turkey can be an important supplier. The key here is the provision of export financing by the Turkish side for the supply of equipment for Ukrainian customers,” -Yulia Svyridenko spoke in details.

Now it is important to renew the production chains through which Turkish companies supplied Ukraine with their own raw materials for processing and further export or sale on domestic markets. Many companies have now suspended this format of cooperation due to the military risks, so the Ministry of Economy is currently working to renew this form of cooperation.

The supply of oil products to Ukraine was discussed separately during the meeting. “We continue to help Ukrainian importers reorient their supply channels from russia and belarus. The Turkish side will consider allocating additional volumes for Ukraine,” - Iulia Svyridenko said. Turkey continues to consistently support Ukraine's state sovereignty and to be our important geopolitical and trade partner.
