Great Britain imports Ukrainian onions

Ukraine continues to expand the geography of onion exports. So, in January 2024, the first wholesale batches of Ukrainian onions were exported to the UK market. This is reported by EastFruit analysts.

"This direction is not typical for the supply of onions from Ukraine, but very promising, especially in seasons like this one, when there is a shortage of onions in Europe,"-  experts say.

It is mentioned that the main sales market for Ukrainian onions remains Romania, where almost 2 000 tons of vegetables are sent every month. Moldova remains in the second place in terms of export volumes. Also, significant batches of Ukrainian onions are sent to Bulgaria, Austria and Montenegro.

Analysts note that there are now quite a few reasons for the expansion of onion exports from Ukraine. So, Ukrainian onion prices are now at one of the lowest levels in history - about 31 US cents per kg.

Besides, Ukrainian onions are now sold much cheaper than onions in EU countries or Moldova. Even in Poland, which, thanks to the massive import of onions from russia, has the lowest prices in the European Union, onion prices are in average 40% higher than in Ukraine.
