Bulgaria is offering to export grain from Ukraine through the ports of Varna and Constanta if it fails to have an agreement with Vladimir Putin on safe corridors. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Kirill Petkov before the European Council in Brussels, reports the correspondent of UNN.

The Prime Minister was asked what steps the EU should take to ensure the supply of grain from Ukraine.

“The first step, of course, should be blue corridors and safe export through the Black Sea. But if this is not the subject of negotiations with Russia, we are discussing the potential option of obtaining part of the grain through Varna and Constanta - the two closest ports to Odesa. Of course, it will be more expensive than the other variant, but it is a more reliable one. Because we don’t know - it depends on Putin,” - the Prime minister said.

When he was asked when a decision is expected, Petkov said that negotiations have been conducting between Russia, Ukraine and the EU, and in this particular case, Turkey.

“But I have asked the Commission to start work on Plan B already, and Bulgaria could be part of this solution,”-  he added.

In an evening address to the Ukrainian nation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that due to the fact that Russia is blocking Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea and has invaded the Ukrainian coast of the Sea of ​​Azov, Ukraine could not export 22 million tons of grain which are already in warehouses.
