The Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement with the European Union on common airspace

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted in favor of the draft Law on Ratification of the Agreement between Ukraine, on the one hand, and the European Union and its Member States, on the other hand, on the Common Aviation space.

The agreement was concluded on October 12, 2021 during the 23rd EU-Ukraine Summit.

The agreement will offer new opportunities for the aviation industry, more direct connections and economic benefits for both parties:

  • All EU airlines will be able to make direct flights from anywhere in the EU to any airport in Ukraine, and Ukrainian airlines - vice versa;
  • All restrictions on flights between Ukraine and the EU will be removed, and provisions on fair and transparent competition will guarantee even conditions.

The agreement will promote the development of people-to-people contacts, as well as the expansion of commercial opportunities and trade between the European Union and Ukraine.

It will also be a valuable tool in the implementation of the EU Association Agreement and, in particular, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.
