Ukrainian corn has reached a price peak amid news from Turkey

The introduction of an additional quota for corn imports by the Turkish government has led to a speculative price increase for corn in Ukrainian ports, reaching the highest level of the season - 230 $/t.

Since Monday, export prices for corn in Ukraine’s Black Sea ports have increased by 5-8 $/t. - to 227-230 $/t., or 10,600-10,800 ₴/t., moreover, prices from small traders are 1-3 $/t. higher than those from international trading companies.

In the 2024/25 marketing year, Ukraine exported 15.84 million tons of corn (compared to 17.6 million tons during the same period last year) out of a projected 22 million tons. However, export rates are gradually slowing as Ukrainian corn remains the most expensive among major exporters.

Yesterday, June corn futures on the Euronext Paris increased by 1.3% - to 216.75 €/t., or 236.5 $/t. - having lost 2.9% over the month amid increased supplies of American and Brazilian corn.

May corn futures on the CBOT exchange in Chicago increased by 0.6% on March 19 - to 181.9 $/t., (10.8% decrease over the month) on expectations of the introduction of US tariffs on Mexico and other countries from April 2, since the export potential by the end of the season is estimated at 32 million tons.
