The markets of EU countries, Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Israel, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Kuwait, and others are open for the export of Ukrainian fish, fish products, and seafood.
One of the key directions for developing export potential is the export of aquaculture products to EU countries, particularly in the context of Ukraine’s European integration efforts. Currently, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection is collaborating with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) to expand the species range of aquaculture products for export. Work is also ongoing with Canada, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Chile, Korea, and other countries.
In 2024, domestic industrial fishing in Ukraine was 11,900 tons, a 6.2% increase compared to 2023. The catch beyond Ukraine’s jurisdiction nearly doubled, reaching 19,900 tons. The export value of fish products increased by 80.3% over the year, reaching $56.3 million.
