Ukraine’s cast iron exports increased by 45% over 5 months

In January-May 2025, Ukraine boosted its processed cast iron exports by 45.2% in physical terms compared to the same period last year, rising from 507,106 tons to 736,418 tons. 

Over this period, cast iron exports in monetary terms increased by 53.2%, reaching $290.546 million. 

Exports were primarily directed to the USA (79.11% of shipments in monetary terms), Italy (10.23%), and Turkey (5.90%). 

In the first 5 months of 2025, Ukraine imported 29,000 tons of cast iron worth $55,000 from Brazil (68.52%) and Germany (31.48%), compared to 15 tons worth $35,000 in January-May 2024. 

In 2024, Ukraine reduced its processed cast iron exports by 3.4% in physical terms compared to 2023, reaching 1,290,622 tons and by 6.1% in monetary terms, reaching $500.341 million. Exports went mainly to the USA (72.64% in monetary terms), Turkey (8.03%), and Italy (7.30%). 

For the entire 2024, Ukraine imported 38 tons of cast iron worth $90,000 from Germany, compared to 154 tons worth $156,000 in 2023.
