Ukraine suddenly reduced the volume of beef export

According to preliminary data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in January 2024, Ukraine has exported 568,55 tons of cattle live weight, which is 166% less compared to December 2023. Revenue from delivered animals amounted to 1,51 million US dollars and reduced by 187% compared to the previous month. All deliveries were directed to Lebanon. Compared to December last year, cattle export reduced by 227% in physical volume and by 306% in monetary terms.

In January 2024, Ukraine suddenly reduced the volume of exports of chilled beef to 823 kg, which is 32,97 tons less compared to December. The monetary revenue for the delivered goods reduced to 8,99 thousand US dollars, which is 107,61 thousand dollars. less compared to December. Red meat was supplied to Moldova, St. Kitts and Nevis and Türkiye. Compared to January last year, natural volumes of chilled beef export reduced by 294%, and revenue for the delivered product reduced by 120%.

The natural volumes of frozen beef export reduced to 1,3 thousand tons (-38%) in January, and the monetary revenue for delivered meat reduced to 5,6 million US dollars (-39%) compared to December 2023. About 51% of exported beef was sent to China, 29% to Azerbaijan, 16% to Georgia. Compared to January 2023, natural volumes of frozen red meat deliveries increased by 13%, and export revenue increased by 22%.

In January 2024, Ukraine has imported 41,65 tons (+24%) of live weight cattle from Denmark, 3,24 tons of chilled beef from the EU and the USA (-242%) and 252,18 tons of frozen beef from Ireland (+21%). Compared to January 2023, Ukraine has reduced import of fresh beef by 136%, but increased import of frozen red meat by 11%.

In January, the balance of foreign trade in cattle and beef was positive - 4,8 million US dollars.
