Ukraine is still on the 4-th place among the largest agricultural products exporters to the EU

Ukraine is still on the 4-th place among the largest agricultural products exporters to the EU countries, after Great Britain, Brazil and the USA.

These statistical data have been published in a new report of the European Commission on agricultural products trade in January 2020.

The report says that the EU mostly increased imports of agricultural product from Ukraine and Canada. During 12 months from February 2019 to January 2020, the total imports from the third countries amounted to 121,3 billion euros, so, it has increased by 1,8% in comparison with the same period of 2018-2019. The most important countries-importers during the last 12 month were (billion euros/percent in the total EU imports): Great Britain (16,5; 14%), Brazil (10,7; 9%), the USA (10,1; 8%), Ukraine (6,8; 6%), and these countries are followed by China and Switzerland. Other important import directions are: Argentina, Turkey and Indonesia.

As it has been emphasized, in annual terms, the volume of the EU agro-industrial imports has mostly increased from Ukraine (+1,19 billion euros; + 21%) and from Canada (+0,64; + 40%).

At the same time, according to the provided data, in January of 2020 the EU imports from Ukraine has decreased by 23,6% (by 197 million euros) in comparison with January of 2019, in other words it has dropped from 835 million euros to 638 million euros.  

According to the volume of Ukrainian agricultural products imports from the EU countries, our country still occupies the 15th position among the most important EU trade partners with the indicator of 2 billion 472 million euros. The increase amounts to 407 million euro or 19,7% in comparison with the 12-month period of the previous year (2 billion 065 million euros).
