Ukraine spent 227 million USD on cheese imports, earning four times less from exports

In 2024, Ukraine purchased cheeses worth 227 million USD and sold cheeses on foreign markets for 54 million USD.

Ukraine imported 38,284 thousand tons of cheese in 2024 for 227.09 million USD. Cheese exports in 2024 were 12,428 thousand tons for 54 million USD.

In 2023, cheese imports were 33.7 thousand tons for 200 million USD, while exports were 8.9 thousand tons for 40 million USD.

Market participants believe that in 2025, the domestic cheese market will primarily be filled with imported products, as raw material producers will continuously raise cheese prices amid high milk costs.

In December 2024, soft fatty cheeses could be purchased in retail for 217.36 UAH/kg, compared to 176.76 UAH/kg in December 2023, 159.34 UAH/kg in December 2022, and 125.98 UAH/kg in December 2021.
