Ukraine renewed export of pork and beef

Due to Russian aggression, Ukraine lost the traditional ways of exporting its food products by seaway, which led to the need to update the conditions of import and transit of Ukrainian goods through the EU. As a result of negotiations with the European Commission and EU member states, these conditions have been updated. In particular, an agreement was reached on the transit of Ukrainian products by ferry through the Romanian checkpoint Isachea-Orlivka.

The Parties agreed on the transit through the EU of pork and beef, as well as meat products and by-products from these types of meat, processed in accordance with processing categories B-F (in accordance with paragraph 1 of Annex XXVI to Regulation (EU) № 2020/429). As Ukraine is not authorized to export these types of goods to the EU in terms of the country's animal health audit, as an exception to martial law and the unblocking of Ukrainian ports, transit is allowed only through Romanian ports.

The goods must meet the following requirements:

  • accompanied by an international veterinary certificate required by the importing country (destination country);
  • to be transported in closed containers from the facilities of origin to the importing country (destination country);
  • the market operator must inform the relevant border inspection post in advance of the import of such goods by completing the first Part 1 of the Common Health Document for Import (CHED-P) through the EU information system - TRACES NT;
  • to be imported into and exported from the territory of the EU through approved border inspection posts.

Earlier it was reported about the change in the conditions of export and transit of Ukrainian products of animal origin by the automobile and railway transport. It should be recalled that import and transit to / through the EU is carried out exclusively through approved border crossing points (BCPs) for certain categories of goods. During martial law, to the main checkpoints temporary ones are added (for Poland - Szegeny, for Romania - Ordivka and Vadul-Siret).
