Ukraine maintains a positive dairy trade balance, but the surplus is shrinking

In July 2025, the total trade volume of Ukrainian dairy products reached $52.1 million, up 6.8% from June ($48.8 million), but down 23% compared to May ($67.6 million). 

Export volumes in July reached $27.2 million, a modest 4.0% increase from June ($26.1 million), but 36% lower than in May ($42.8 million). 

The export value structure was as follows: 35% butter, 33% condensed milk and cream, and 19% cheeses. 

Import volumes in July reached $24.9 million, up 10% from June ($22.7 million) and nearly matching May’s level ($24.8 million). 

The export-import balance in July remained positive at +$2.3 million, compared to +$3.5 million in June and +$18.0 million in May. 

The export-to-import ratio in July was 1.09, down from 1.15 in June and 1.73 in May.
