Ukraine increased imports of goods by almost 15% in the first quarter of 2025 – State Statistics Service

In the first quarter of 2025, exports of goods from Ukraine reached $9.95 billion, or 93.1% compared to the same period last year. Imports during this period amounted to $18.47 billion, or 14.7%.

The negative balance was $8.51 billion – in the first quarter of last year it was also negative – $5.4 billion. The export-import coverage ratio was 0.54 compared to 0.66 in the first quarter of 2024. Foreign trade operations were carried out with partners from 211 countries around the world.

During the reporting period, Ukraine most actively increased exports of pharmaceutical products – by 33.2% compared to January-March last year (to $96.1 million), wood and cellulose pulp – by 22.1% (to $64.1 million), live animals and animal products – by 21.1% (to $452.1 million).

At the same time, exports of grain crops decreased by 15.7% compared to the first quarter of last year (to $2.25 billion), fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin – by 3.7% (to $1.48 billion), and ferrous metals - by 3.2% (to $728.7 million).
