In 2024, Ukraine increased its agricultural exports to the EU by 11%. Ukraine was the third-largest source of agricultural imports to the EU in 2024, accounting for 8% of the total import value.
Agricultural imports from Ukraine to the EU increased by 11% compared to 2023 (+€1.3 billion), reaching €13 billion. This is due to the increase in the share of imports of 2 key goods: vegetable oils (€3 billion in 2024, +€946 million compared to 2023) and oilseeds and protein crops (€3.1 billion, +€709 million). Imports of Ukrainian grains to the EU decreased by 12% in value (to €4.5 billion) due to lower prices, but their volume increased by 6% compared to the previous year.
In terms of consuming European agricultural exports, Ukraine ranks 13th place (€3.634 billion), representing about 2% of the EU’s total agricultural exports (€235.4 billion). Ukraine’s consumption of imported European agricultural products shows a 5% increase compared to 2023, when Ukraine imported €3.461 billion worth of agricultural products from the EU.
