In July, the total import volume of dairy products reached $24.9 million, a 10% increase compared to June. Cheese imports reached 3,250 tons, up 13.5% from the previous month and close to “standard” pre-war levels.
There was also a significant increase in imports of fermented dairy products (HS code 0403) to nearly 800 tons and whey (HS code 0404) to over 600 tons, marking the highest levels since autumn 2024.
Despite the rise in imports, Ukraine maintained a positive trade balance in dairy products at +$2.3 million in July. Total exports for the month reached $27.2 million, with butter (35%), condensed milk (33%), and cheeses (19%) leading the export structure.
From January to July 2025, dairy product exports increased by 70% to $199.3 million, while imports increased by 15% to $172 million. The positive trade balance reached $27.3 million (compared to a negative balance last year). Butter exports saw the most significant growth, increasing 3.1 times.
