Ukraine imports four times more cheese than it exports

Ukraine in January-May 2023 year has imported 13 thousand tons of cheese worth $77,9 million. In particular, in May, 2,8 thousand tons of cheeses were imported from abroad, for which $16,5 million was spent.

Cheeses were imported to Ukraine mainly from Poland (43,2%), Germany (21,5%), the Netherlands (8,8%). Export of Ukrainian cheeses during the five months of 2023 reached 3,3 thousand tons worth $16 million. Thus, in May, the supply of 0,7 thousand tons of cheese to foreign markets brought Ukraine $3,2 million. The largest buyers of domestic cheeses in January-May 2023 were Kazakhstan (55,7%), Moldova (25,4%), and Jordan (3,9%).
