In the first quarter of 2025, Ukraine imported 63,500 tons of bananas valued at $64.7 million. In comparison, banana imports in January-March 2024 amounted to 58,400 tons worth $57.4 million. For the full year of 2023, Ukraine imported 201,000 tons of bananas valued at $201.6 million.

Currently, there are over 40 edible banana varieties, primarily grown in the tropics and subtropics of Asia, Australia, and South America.
