On February 1, 2026, Ukraine set a new record for daily electricity imports, reaching 46.5 thousand MWh. In January 2026, a record monthly import volume was also recorded, amounting to 894.4 thousand MWh. This is the highest monthly import figure for the entire period of the conflict.
Compared to December 2025, imports in January increased by 40%. Hungary provides the largest share of supplies, accounting for 45% of the total import volume. Import growth is observed across all directions except Moldova. The utilization of interstate import cross-border capacity reached 100% of its capabilities, indicating high demand for electricity.
The largest increase in imports on an hourly basis occurs during the period from 8:00 to 17:00. It is important to note that electricity exports in January 2026 were completely absent, as exports have not been carried out since November 11, 2025.
