The export of sunflower seeds from Ukraine since the beginning of the 2022/23 season (for September-February) has reached a new historical maximum, amounting to 1,54 million tons. Almost 80% of the total export of oilseeds went to the EU countries and 19% to Türkiye.

Among the countries, the leaders among importers were Bulgaria (shipped 429 000 tons of sunflower; the share in total import was 28%) and Romania (406 000 tons; 26%). In the last few months, there has been a gradual reduction in the export of oilseeds from Ukraine, due to a reduce in demand and prices of importers against the background of a sufficient supply of sunflower in Europe.
