Ukraine became the world leader in the supply of sunflower due to the suspension of sunflower oil export

According to the results of the 2021/22 marketing year (ended August 31), Ukraine exported a record number of sunflower - 1,63 million tons.

The increase in sunflower export was due to the suspension of sunflower oil export and a significant reduction in its processing within the country.

According to the US Department of Agriculture, Ukraine became the leader among the sunflower exporters in the world in 2021/22 marketing year and, most likely, will hold this position for at least one more season.

According to the agency's estimates, provided the grain corridor continues to work and the processing sector is stable, sunflower shipments to foreign markets in the new 2022/23 marketing year may drop to 1,1-1,2 million tons (-29% compared to the 2021/22 indicator) ), but this may become the second largest volume of export from Ukraine throughout history and one of the largest among supplier countries in the world market.

The demand for Ukrainian sunflower remains at the highest level.
