Ukraine and Thailand are interested in deepening cooperation in the trade and economic sphere

On September 7, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine – Trade representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Poland and Ukraine (part-time) Chettaphan Maksamphan to discuss key issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation.

„Thailand is an important partner of Ukraine in the Asian region, with which we are interested in comprehensively expanding trade and economic cooperation. Ukraine remains one of the leaders in the export of agricultural and food products, and as a reliable partner makes efforts to ensure uninterrupted supply to foreign markets, including the market of Thailand,“ - said Deputy Minister Taras Kachka.

In particular, for 6 months of 2021 the volume of bilateral trade in goods increased by 25,5% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 163 million US dollars. Including the volume of agricultural products in bilateral trade in the first half of this year amounted to 25,9 million US dollars.

The parties agreed that the holding of the Joint commission on trade issues between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand will be an effective tool for the development of bilateral economic relations between the two countries.

Besides this, it is important to hold business events at the level of business circles of both countries, participate in exhibitions, cooperation within international organizations, in the field of modern technologies, especially in IT, automotive and space, as well as attracting Thai investment in agriculture sector of Ukraine.
