Ukraine and Moldova restored a railway connection bypassing Transnistria

In the south of Odesa region the railway workers restored the section of railway connection between Berezino (Ukraine) and Bessarabka (Moldova) bypassing the self-proclaimed Transnistria. It completely stopped its functioning in 1997. On August 2022 the transport connection between these two stations was launched.

The railway connection Berezino – Bessarabka runs through the territory of Ukraine for 22 km, and Moldova – only 1 km. Thanks to the reconstruction of this track, there will be a transport connection on the already existing section from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi to the Ukrainian port of Izmail as well as on to the Reni port.

In addition, the nearest plans of the Ukrainian and Moldovan railway workers are to repair the existing track and build a new track between the Giurgiulesti port on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border and the Romanian port of Galati.
