Taras Kachka discussed with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan the prospects for the development of trade and economic relations

On October 7, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine - Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Ukraine Alisher Kurmanov in order to discuss key issues of mutually beneficial trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

“For 7 months of 2021 compared to the same period last year, trade turnover between Ukraine and Uzbekistan increased by 59,5% to 335,3 million US dollars. In particular, export of Ukrainian goods amounted to 216,7 million US dollars                             (+ 48,8%). The holding of the Eighth Session of the Joint Ukrainian-Uzbek Commission for Comprehensive Cooperation in the near future will allow our countries to identify promising spheres for establishing relationships and project implementation,”  - Taras Kachka said.

Ukraine is interested in strengthening trade turnover with Uzbekistan, including rolled metal products, pipe products, equipment and special machinery for the needs of the oil and gas industry.

Emphasis was also made on cooperation in the agricultural sector in terms of increasing supplies of Ukrainian dairy, meat and oil products, confectionery, etc. Besides this, Ukraine aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of agricultural machinery - supply to the market of Uzbekistan agricultural machinery of various modifications, equipment for feed mills, milking parlors and cattle, equipment for poultry.

The Uzbek side stressed that the resumption of air services between Ukraine and Uzbekistan is significant, as the implementation of projects in the aviation industry is promising for both countries. Uzbekistan is also interested in increasing supplies to the Ukrainian market of cotton, fiber, yarn and textile products for processing in Ukraine and further export.
