Soybean exports from Ukraine in the 2024/25 season set a new record

From September to July of the 2024/25 marketing year, Ukraine exported 3.97 million tons of soybeans, a 28% increase compared to the same period in the previous season, marking the highest figure in the industry’s history.

Key factors driving this growth include a record soybean harvest in 2024, competitive prices, and Ukraine’s favorable geographic position relative to major importers. The significant increase in shipments was also fueled by high global demand for Ukrainian soybeans.

However, further export growth may be limited by the potential introduction of a 10% export duty on soybeans starting in September 2025, if the relevant bill is passed. This stimulates exporters to maximize shipments during the summer before the new regulations take effect.

The main importers of Ukrainian soybeans this season are Turkey (968,600 tons, up 39% from last year), Egypt (673,000 tons, down 31%), and the Netherlands, which increased purchases 2.7 times to 546,000 tons.
