Rapeseed exports from Ukraine drop to a three-year low

In the 2024/25 season, Ukraine exported 3.14 million tons of rapeseed, a 15% decrease compared to the previous marketing year (MY), marking the lowest level in the last three seasons. The main reason for the decline is the consistent reduction in the oilseed crop harvest in the country over recent years.

Nearly 89% of total rapeseed exports went to the European Union (compared to 91% in the previous MY), reaching 2.78 million tons, a 17% drop from the 2024/25 MY. Among the top importers of Ukrainian rapeseed, Germany led with over 1 million tons (-18%), followed by Belgium with 899,000 tons (a 2.4-fold increase), and the United Kingdom with 334,000 tons (a 2.5-fold increase).

In the new 2025/26 season, the trend of declining rapeseed exports is likely to continue, driven by an expected four-year low in the crop’s harvest and the potential introduction of an export duty on oilseeds, which is currently being actively lobbied.

Rapeseed exports from Ukraine in the 2025/26 MY currently stand at 2.7 million tons (-15%).
