Denys Shmyhal thanked the Romanian Government for its joint efforts with the European Union for establishing and operating of hubs in Romania for international assistance to Ukraine.

“We know that the people of Romania are feeling this pain and are standing with us in this battle. We appreciate the assistance provided to the citizens of Ukraine who were forced to leave their homes due to the aggression of the russian federation. Thank you for the good treatment of Ukrainian immigrants,” - said the head of the Ukrainian Government. Besides this, Denys Shmyhal noted that the parties are currently working together on a draft Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of social protection of children affected by hostilities. According to him, this Memorandum will provide mechanisms and tools to support such children, as well as ensure their return to Ukraine after the end of active hostilities.

In the context of Russia's blockade of Ukrainian ports in order to create a food crisis in the world, Denys Shmyhal and Nicolae Chuku discussed the possibility of expanding the already established export corridors through Romania and using additional opportunities of Romanian seaports. “In order to increase transit capacity between Ukraine and Romania, we would also like to consider opening the Dyakivtsi (Ukraine) - Rakovec (Romania) checkpoint as soon as possible and further giving it the status of a cargo checkpoint,”- said Denys Shmyhal.

The heads of government paid special attention to the issue of renewal of Ukraine. According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the already liberated towns and villages need to restore electricity and energy communications, as well as water supply. “Significant efforts are needed to directly restore the houses and social infrastructure. The Ukrainian side counts on Romania's active participation in these processes,” - Denys Shmyhal stressed.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine welcomed Bucharest’s active participation on international platforms in order to support our country in the fight against russian aggression, as well as to support Ukraine’s European integration. Denys Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine highly appreciates the role of Romania in the international processes of condemnation and punishment of russia for crimes against humanity and acts of genocide, which is still being committed by the occupiers in our country.

Prime Minister Nicolae Chuku has assured that Romania will continue to support Ukraine in this fight and will support the strengthening of sanctions against the aggressor.
