One plans to return import taxes to Ukraine

At the next session the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is going to adopt a law concerning the return of import taxation.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Taxes and Customs Policy of the Verkhovna Rada, Danylo Hetmantsev, on the air of an information TV and radio telethon.

"Regarding changes in taxation, we plan to adopt a law at the next session to return import taxes, i.e. when goods are imported into the customs territory of Ukraine, VAT and customs duties will be paid," - the people’s deputy said.

The People's Deputy noted that this decision had a significant impact on the revenues to the state budget, which reduced by 20 billion UAH.

"The reasons for this decision were because in March we had some fear about the deficit. This decision played its role, but now it is subject to cancellation. All other benefits that we introduced for the period of the war are for the small businesses  where we have completely exempted them from taxation, this is a 2% tax that replaces income tax and value added tax, this is a restriction on conducting inspections and a restriction on the calculation of fines - all this remains until the end of wartime and even after wartime for a certain period," - Hetmantsev emphasized.

Taxes during the wartime:

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russian troops, the Tax service of Ukraine has suspended almost all inspections on businesses and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a series of laws aimed at deregulation and lowering the level of taxation during the implementation of the martial law.

On May 25, 2022, Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko is sure that to stabilize the State budget, it is necessary to raise taxes to the pre-war level.

On May 27, 2022, Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko announced that Ukraine would return taxes canceled owing to the war.
