The Moldovan government, at a meeting on December 30, extended licensing of import of wheat, corn and sunflower for half a year.

The restriction on import of agricultural product will be valid until June 30, 2025.

The extension of the restriction is aimed at protecting local farmers and maintaining stability in the domestic market.

According to the data as of early December, Moldova has sufficient stocks of wheat, corn and sunflower to cover all domestic needs for the coming months. This is about 290 thousand tons of wheat, 662 thousand tons of corn and 249 thousand tons of sunflower.
