Latvia will help Ukraine to export grain through Latvian ports

On April 22-24, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi paid a working visit to the Republic of Latvia.

During the visit, Mykola Solskyi met with the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia Kaspars Gerhards, as well as visited the Riga and Ventspils freeports and the special economic zone of Liepaja.

The Minister got acquainted with the port and logistics infrastructure of Latvia and discussed the possibilities of exporting products of Ukrainian farmers with the help of Latvian ports. Within the framework of the visit, Mykola Solskyi also met with representatives of Latvian local authorities, representatives of Latvian port administrations, operators of grain terminals, as well as grain trading companies in Latvia.

It should be mentioned that earlier the President of Latvia Egils Levits stressed that Latvia can help Ukraine with export of grain through the Latvian ports. He also expressed full support for the Presidents of the Baltic States and Poland in granting Ukraine EU candidate status and adopting this decision under the simplified procedure.
