India emerged as Ukraine’s largest diesel fuel supplier in July 2025, following punitive tariffs imposed by Trump on Delhi’s imports of Russian oil.
India overtook other suppliers and became the largest source of diesel fuel for Ukraine in July 2025, providing 15.5% of imports.
The average daily shipments were 2,700 tonnes, one of the highest monthly exports from India this year. This sharp increase marks a sharp shift compared to July 2024, when India supplied just 1.9% of Ukraine’s diesel fuel needs.
From January to July 2025, India’s share of Ukraine’s diesel imports increased to 10.2%, a fivefold increase from 1.9% in the same period last year. While India’s share now surpasses several European partners, its physical export volumes still trail behind Greece and Turkey. However, in proportional terms, India outperformed all competitors in July.
Diesel supplies from Greece and Turkey remained significant, though Slovakia surpassed both countries. Combined exports from Poland and Lithuania’s Orlen Group accounted for about 20% of total imports. Meanwhile, exports from Sweden’s Preem enterprises, which pass through Poland and Denmark, reached a record 4% of Ukraine’s diesel imports in July since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
