In February, Ukraine exported the lowest monthly volume of sunflower oil in 10 years

In February, sunflower oil exports were only 325,000 tons, which is 14% lower than the January figure and marked the lowest monthly shipment volume since the start of the 2024/25 season. For February, this is the smallest figure in the last 10 years.
At the same time, market participants report some revival in sunflower sales by farmers in February, which could contribute to an increase in sunflower oil production and exports in March-April.
For the period of September-February of the 2024/25 marketing year, Ukraine exported 2.4 million tons of sunflower oil. This is 24% lower than the figure for the same period in the previous season and represents the smallest volume for the first half of a season since the 2016/17 marketing year.
The main export volume went to EU countries - 54%. However, in terms of individual countries, for the first time in the last three seasons, India became the leading importer of Ukrainian sunflower oil, with 417,000 tons shipped, which is five times higher than the figure for the same period in the previous season.
