Export by railway increased by 53,7% in March

For the third month in a row, Ukrzaliznytsia shows growth in cargo transportations. Thus, in March 2024, a record 16 million tons of cargoes were transported by railway in all modes of transportation since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Among the priorities is to increase the volume of transportation in the direction of sea ports in order to maximize the loading of the Ukrainian marine corridor. So, in March, cargoes were transported by 31% more than in March 2023, and by 10% more than the previous record month. Thus, in March 5,3 million tons of cargo (2,7 million tons of grain) were transported through the port stations, 3.4 million tons (484 thousand tons of grain) through the western border crossings.

Last month, 8 million tons of cargo were transported by railway for export, of which 3,2 million tons were grain cargoes. In total, 51% of all cargoes were transported for export. It increased by 53,7% compared to March 2023, and by 4,7% compared to the record last year.
