Export and import of goods increased by a third

In January-October 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, import of goods increased by 32,1% to 57,03 billion US dollars, export - by 37,5% to 54,47 billion US dollars.

Export of goods from Ukraine in January-October 2021 amounted to 54468,9 million US dollars, which is 37,5% more than in the same period of 2020. Import of goods to Ukraine for the period amounted to 57034,3 million US dollars, 32,1% more compared to January-October 2020. Accordingly, Ukraine’s foreign trade balance was negative and was 2565,4 million US dollars (for January-October 2020, this figure was also negative and amounted to 3547,3 million dollars). In January-October 2021, foreign trade operations were conducted with partners from 232 countries.

During the first 10 months of 2021 Ukraine exported the most goods to China (6,53 billion US dollars; 20,1% more than in January-October 2020), Poland (4,44 billion US dollars; 68,1 % more) and Turkey (3,20 billion US dollars; 71,1% more).

In January-October 2021, Ukraine sold the most ferrous metals on foreign markets (11,53 billion US dollars; 80,0% more than in January-October 2020); cereals (9,06 billion US dollars; 18,8% more); fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin (5,20 billion US dollars; 16,4% more).

In January-October 2021, Ukraine imported the most goods from China (8,56 billion US dollars; 29,5% more than in the same period of 2020); Germany (5,11 billion US dollars; 17,5% more) and the Russian Federation (4,57 billion US dollars; 24,0% more).

The main commodity items of Ukrainian import in January-October 2021 were: machinery, equipment and machinery (11,20 billion US dollars; 22,9% more than in January-October 2020), mineral fuels, oil and oil processing products (10,65 billion US dollars; 67,0% more), products of the chemical and related to it industries (7,58 billion US dollars;  29,9% more).

According to the State Statistics Service, in 2020 compared to 2019 import of goods reduced to 11,0% to 54,10 billion US dollars, export - to 1,7% to 49,21 billion US dollars.
