Containerized grain shipments in Ukraine decreased by 10% in the first half of 2025

Compared to the same period in 2024, overall containerized cargo shipments decreased by 18%, reaching 114,793 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units). 

Despite the overall decline, grain cargoes remain the leading category for containerized shipments, accounting for 29% of the total volume. However, containerized grain shipments specifically decreased by 10% in the first half of 2025. 

The main cargo types for the first six months of 2025 are distributed as follows: grain cargoes – 32,890 TEU (29%); ferrous metals – 23,610 TEU (21%); oil cake – 11,180 TEU (10%); oil – 9,002 TEU (8%); synthetic resins – 5,036 TEU (4%); chemicals – 3,844 TEU (3%); sugar – 3,114 TEU (3%).

Grain cargoes continue to dominate among intermodal shipments, covering nearly half of their total volume.
