In the first half of the 2025/2026 marketing year, China became the main importer of Ukrainian rapeseed meal, purchasing 155 thousand tons of the product.

According to the results of July - December 2025/2026 MY, exports of rapeseed meal from Ukraine increased by 70% compared to the previous season, reaching 340 thousand tons.

This became the second largest export volume for the first half of the season in history after the 2023/2024 MY. At that time, 374 thousand tons of meal were shipped.

The growth in export rates was facilitated by an increase in rapeseed processing in the first half of the season to nearly 800 thousand tons, which was a result of the introduction of a 10% export duty on rapeseed and improved processing margins.

Import demand for rapeseed meal from the EU this season is also very low: EU countries have a significant own rapeseed harvest and active imports of cheap Canadian canola.

Exports from Ukraine of a record 155 thousand tons propelled China to first place among importers of Ukrainian rapeseed meal.
