Agroexport of Ukraine grew to 6.3 billion USD thanks to processed products

In the first quarter of 2026, Ukraine exported 15.5 million tons of agricultural products worth 6.3 billion USD. The share of the agro sector in total exports reached 62%.

The main trend was an increase in the value of exports with almost unchanged physical volumes.

In annual terms, the volume of supplies increased by only 1.2%, while revenue grew by 8.3% or by 482 million USD.

The geography of exports remains stable. EU countries accounted for 49% of supplies, the Middle East and North Africa region – 20%, Turkey – 12%, other countries – 18%. At the same time, Turkey strengthened its position: its share increased from 9% to 12%, and exports in monetary terms grew by 242 million USD.

The export structure remains concentrated: 5 main commodity categories formed 68% of revenue, 10 – 81%. Among the key positions are corn, sunflower oil and wheat. Corn exports grew by 18% in physical terms and by 17% in monetary terms, largely due to demand from Turkey. Revenue from sunflower oil exports increased by 20% with a 3% increase in volumes.

At the same time, wheat exports decreased by 35%, which is associated with a high harvest in EU countries. The largest decline was recorded in the European direction – 82%. However, recovery was observed during the quarter: exports grew from 536 thousand tons in January to 869 thousand tons in March, which creates preconditions for full use of EU quotas in 2026.

A transformation is also recorded in the oilseed segment. The export of raw materials is decreasing and the share of processed products is growing. In the soybean segment, processed products show a smaller decline than raw beans. In the rapeseed segment, rapeseed oil exports grew more than 30 times compared to the same period last year.

Overall, the results of the first quarter indicate Ukraine’s gradual transition from a raw material model to the export of products with higher added value.
