“Every year, we sign agreements with farmers to purchase the entire volume of amaranth they grow. This could be 1 ton or 100 tons, with a fixed purchase price. For example, this year’s purchase price for amaranth is 30 UAH/kg, or 30,000 UAH/ton – this is the guaranteed buyback price,” said Oleksandr Duda, head of the NGO “Association of Amaranth and Amaranth Products Producers.” 

The expert also noted that approximately 50% of the amaranth grown in Ukraine is processed domestically, while the other 50% is exported. Efforts are made to maintain a balance to ensure the export price does not exceed demand. Each year, a price for amaranth is set, which producers use as a reference to plan their sowing areas. This year, up to 10,000 hectares are planned to be sown with amaranth.
