73% of Ukrainian sugar exports in 2025 were directed to the global market

In the 2025 calendar year, Ukraine exported 463.7 thousand tonnes of sugar worth $222 million.

73% of the exported volume was directed to the global market, while 27% went to the markets of EU countries.

The main buyers of Ukrainian sugar in 2025 were:

Lebanon – 15% of exports; Bulgaria – 14%; North Macedonia – 8%; Libya – 7%; Syria – 6%; Turkey – 6%.

The key factor in the reduction of export volumes was the introduction of restrictions on the export of Ukrainian sugar to EU countries. As a result, exports to the EU in 2025 decreased by 59% compared to the previous year and amounted to 123 thousand tonnes.
