Over the past few years, Ukraine has turned from an importer of starch into an exporter. During this time, a number of modern enterprises were built, equipped with imported equipment, which process potatoes into starch.

Serhiy Lazar, acting director of Private Multiprofile Enterprise «Vymal» informed about it. This enterprise is the largest producer of starch in Ukraine and has two production facilities.

In 2012, production was modernized, new foreign equipment was installed, and very high quality products began to be produced. It was during this period that supplies of starch for export to Southeast Asia began, but they were small.

At the same time, Ukrainian potato growers actually stopped growing potatoes with a high starch content. The raw material base of the starch industry has been pushed back 10 years to the level of 2014.
