Ukrainian agricultural companies continue exports of cereal crops during the quarantine. From the beginning of 2019-2020 marketing year (hereinafter – MY, July 2019 – June 2020) Ukraine has exported 44,19 million tons of grain and this is 7,9 million tons more in comparison with the same period of the previous year. This data has been provided by the Department of Agriculture of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.
In particular, Ukraine has exported 17,4 million tons of wheat, 4,2 million tons of barley, 22 million tons of corn and 5 thousand tons of rye. In addition to this Ukraine has exported 267,8 thousand tons of flour of wheat and other cereal crops and this is 71 thousand tons more in comparison with the same period of the previous MY.
On March 11 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made a decision to introduce quarantine in Ukraine from March 12 to April 3 because of the spread of the coronavirus. Taras Kachka, the Deputy Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture has reported that during the quarantine Ukraine will not restrict exports of cereal crops, sunflower oil, poultry meat and other key export products.
