The volume of cattle slaughter in farms of all categories in January-July 2023 amounted to

106 thousand tons, which is 7,92% more compared to last year's period.  44,15% of beef from the total volume of slaughter was produced at enterprises, and 55,85% was grown at households. The volume of cattle slaughter at enterprises in January-July of this year amounted to 46,8 thousand tons, which is 28% more than last year. In farms, the population was 59,2 thousand tons and decreased by 8% compared to last year's period.

According to the State Statistics Service, the export of red meat increased by 59% in January-July 2023. The demand for beef in the domestic market in conditions of reduced incomes and welfare of the population is quite limited, as red meat is more expensive than pork or chicken. In July, Ukraine reduced import of chilled beef by 54% and frozen beef by 94% compared to June 2023.
