Only 10-12% of blueberry exporters make direct deliveries to retail chains

Up to 90% of blueberries are exported fresh. The main European export destinations are Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Switzerland.

About 35% of domestic exporters use logistics hubs to sell their berries, such as the port of Constanța in Romania, the city of Breda in the Netherlands, Stuttgart in Germany, and Wrocław in Poland. And only 10-12% carry out direct deliveries to retail chains. This requires stable volumes and well-organized in-house logistics.

Given current trends, in the next few years 50% of exports will be handled through hubs, distributors, and importers. This is a kind of simplified export model in which partners take care of logistics and customs issues. It is precisely this model that will help scale up exports.
