The signing took place during the 18th annual meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission in the city of Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan).
On behalf of Ukraine, the agreement was signed online by the Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The agreement was also signed by Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
The agreement provides for the introduction of a single electronic document for international road freight transport across the territories of the participating states of the Europe – Caucasus – Asia corridor.
The implementation of this mechanism will allow: to simplify the procedures for organizing international road transport; to reduce the time for passing permit procedures; to reduce the costs of carriers; to ensure the digitalization of transit operations; to increase the transparency and efficiency of transport processes.
The agreement also creates preconditions for deepening regional transport cooperation and introducing modern digital services in the field of international transport.
In the future, the document is subject to ratification by all participating parties. After the completion of internal procedures and the agreement entering into force, the practical implementation of the Single TRACECA Transit Permit will begin as a digital tool for simplifying transit transport in the region.
