Ukraine exported about 426 thousand tons of sugar. This is 12% less than in the same period of the previous marketing year.

“Ukrtsukor” expects that by the end of the season Ukraine will be able to reach an export figure of 500 thousand tons.

At the same time, starting from March, the geography of Ukrainian sugar exports has changed – Uzbekistan has entered the TOP-3 destinations. There is a high probability that based on April results, it may even become the No. 1 market for Ukrainian sugar.

In recent years, the main suppliers of sugar to the markets of Central Asia, besides the Russians, were sugar refineries of the Middle East, in particular the UAE. However, due to the current crisis in the Persian Gulf, this supply chain has apparently been disrupted, and a “window of opportunity” has appeared for Ukrainian sugar.
