Ukraine imported pork worth $53 million this year

Pork imports (HS code 0203) of chilled and frozen pig meat exceeded 6 thousand tons in September, which is 31% more than imported a month earlier and is the maximum indicator since January 2022.

The stimulus for increased import activity was both high quotations for Ukrainian pork and the exhaustion of duty-free supply quotas for pork from the EU.

In the first three quarters of 2025, Ukraine imported 20.8 thousand tons of chilled and frozen pig meat (HS code 0203) worth $53.2 million, of which only 142 tons were imported from Canada, while the rest of the commodity batches were imported from the EU. Therefore, further supplies of pork from there will be subject to import duties: 12% for chilled and 10% for frozen.

At the same time, a number of importers are convinced that duties will not stop the flow of pork as long as it is economically justified.

The key directions of trade remain Hong Kong, UAE, Bahrain, and Malaysia, but business and government agencies are actively cooperating to open a number of new markets – Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, etc.
