China remains the primary buyer of Ukrainian frozen beef

In August 2025, Ukraine exported approximately 1,010 tons of live cattle, a 49% decrease compared to July 2025 but a 35% increase compared to August 2024.

The export revenue was $2.78 million, a 34% decrease from July 2025 but up 6% from August 2024.

Ukrainian exporters supplied 19 tons of fresh or chilled beef to foreign markets in August 2025, a 46% decrease from July 2025 but a 20-fold increase compared to August 2024. Export revenue for this product was $105,000, down 36% from July 2025 but 20 times higher than in August 2024.

Over the first eight months of 2025, Ukraine exported the largest volumes of frozen beef to the following markets: China ($15.77 million), Azerbaijan ($14.77 million), and Uzbekistan ($9.27 million).

The primary markets for live cattle exports during this period were Lebanon ($24.74 million), Libya ($2.21 million), Kazakhstan ($1.17 million), and Uzbekistan ($303,000).

In August 2025, Ukraine imported 18 tons of live cattle, a 93% decrease from July 2025 and a 66% decrease from August 2024. Imports of chilled beef increased to 15 tons (+50%), while frozen beef imports dropped to 61 tons (-50%) compared to July 2025.

Compared to August 2024, imports of chilled beef decreased by 66%, and frozen beef imports fell by 11%.
