New rules for international road transport, adopted under the TIR Convention, have come into effect in Ukraine.
A key change is the extension of the mandatory vehicle inspection period from every 2 years to every 3 years. Certificates allowing vehicles to transport goods under customs seals and stamps are now also valid for a 3-year period. This reduces the time and resources spent by carriers on repeated inspections.
Another important clarification addresses the validity of certificates upon expiration. If a transport operation begins before the certificate expires, it remains valid until the cargo reaches the customs office at its final destination. This ensures uninterrupted transport and minimizes unforeseen issues during transit.
The updated rules, aligned with UN standards under the TIR Convention, are mandatory for all participating countries, including Ukraine. They promote a standardized approach to transport operations and reduce administrative burdens on businesses.
