Salt imports to Ukraine collapsed

In January–June 2024, Ukraine imported 211,692 tons of salt, a 45.9% decrease compared to the same period the previous year, when imports reached 391,186 tons. According to data from the State Customs Service, spending on salt imports in the first half of 2025 decreased by 48.46% to $26.919 million, dropping from $52.225 million in the same period of 2024.

The main suppliers of salt to Ukraine in January–June 2025 were Egypt, accounting for 46.09% of imports valued at $12.407 million, Turkey (17.57%, $4.730 million) and Romania (13.41%, $3.611 million). The top three suppliers in the previous year were the same: Egypt (54.89%, $28.668 million), Turkey (17.15%, $8.956 million) and Romania (14.69%, $7.671 million).
