Ukraine increased seed supplies to the EU by more than 30 times in 2024

Seed supplies from Ukraine to EU markets in 2024 increased by more than 30 times compared to the pre-war year of 2021, reaching a record figure of $115 million USD.

The main importer of Ukrainian seed corn is France, which purchased 9,700 tons for $26.1 million USD.

Ukraine also made significant deliveries of seed corn to other EU countries: Austria – 9,200 tons ($23.8 million USD), Romania – 9,100 tons ($23.4 million USD), Hungary – 7,700 tons ($23.8 million USD), Germany – 3,200 tons ($7 million USD), and Croatia – 1,300 tons ($3.1 million USD).

Noticeably smaller volumes of seed exports of this agricultural crop went to Moldova – 800 tons ($2.5 million USD) and Kazakhstan – 600 tons ($1.2 million USD).

In addition to corn, Ukraine supplied seeds of other agricultural crops to foreign markets: wheat (1,092 tons), rye (856 tons), barley (368 tons), sunflower (268 tons), soybeans (30 tons), sorghum (29 tons), and buckwheat (23 tons).
